This century old trail was the main trade route connecting eastern to central Bhutan before the establishment of the national highways. It was also used by people travelling to pay taxes to the Penlop at central government in Trongsa. This trail is popularly known as Wild Rodongla because of its very narrow and steep paths. The trail is hardly used nowadays either by Bhutanese people or foreign trekkers. We are promoting this trek today as community based tourism to help the communities in this region. The advantage of this trek is that you can fly into Paro and exit via eastern border town, Samdrup Jongkhar and fly out from Guwahati Airport Assam, India without having to make a loop back to Paro again.
