Cultural and birding journey in Bhutan
I have just returned from a most memorable two week holiday in the idyllic country of Bhutan. Through my guide Tshetem Norbu and his assistants, Dorji and Namgay, I gained vast knowledge of the Bhutanese culture, history, traditions and the flora and fauna of this beautiful Himalayan kingdom. As I traveled through the countryside, I experienced the friendliness and the hospitality of the Bhutanese people as I interacted with them. Tshetem and his assistants were the absolute BEST wildlife spotters and we saw rare and unusual birds - the white bellied heron, flocks of great hornbills, the Himalayan monal, many species of barbets, bulbuls, laughingthrushes and yuhinas, and black necked cranes, just to name a few, as well as the elusive leopard cat! Our lodging was spotless and very comfortable and the meals delicious and generous. I look foward to the day I can return to Bhutan to trek in the Himalayas and would highly recommend Tshetem and his team to anyone wishing to visit the Land of The Thunder Dragon.
