Saktang Ter Cham

This sacred dance is performed by the residents of Sakteng, a village high up in the mountains with a community of people very different from your everyday Bhutanese. It is held only once every 3 years.

Outline Itinerary

Day1: Arrive to Guwhati airport. Drive to SamdrupJongkhar for overnight. (3hr/110km.) Alt: 450m/1476ft.

Day2: SamdrupJongkher to Tashigang (6hr /180km). Overnight at hotel. Alt:1520m/4985ft.

Day3: Tashigang sightseeing.

Day4: Tashigang to Donmangchu (Start of Trek to Sakteng). Drive on farm road and short walk to Domnongchu camp, Alt: Alt: 3089m/10131ft.

Day5: Damnongchu to Merak. 2hr hike to Merak camp, Alt: 3500m/11480ft.

Day6: Merak to MiksaTeng. 6 to 7hr hike to MiksaTeng camp, Alt: 2865m/ 9400ft.

Day7:MiksaTeng to Sakteng: 3 ½ Trek to Sakteng Eco camp Alt:3003m/9850ft.

Day8: Saktang Halt. Morning village tour, evening attend full the Sacred Dance at the temple ground and overnight at camp. Alt: 3003m/9850ft.

Day9: Sakteng to JyonkharTeng. Trek for 5 hr and drive to Tashigang for overnight. Alt: 1520m/4985ft.

Day10: Tashigang to S/jongkher. 6hr/180km, drive for overnight at S/jongkhar. Alt: 450m/1476ft.

Day11: Airport drop. 3hr/110km to Guwahati Airport.
