Jampa Lakhang Drup

Jampa Lhakang Drup is one of the most ancient and sacred festivals of Bhutan. The drup begins with fire ceremony and fire blessings and includes naked dance performed at midnight of the 3 day festival. Jampa Lhakang is also one of the oldest temples in Bhutan built by Tibetan King, Songtsen Gempo in the 7th Centuray A.D.

Outline Itinerary

Day1: Arrive to Paro and drive to Thimphu (1 ½ hr / 65km). Overnight at Thimphu. Alt: 2320m/7609ft.

Day2: Thimphu to Punakha. Morning Thimphu sightseeing and drive to Punakha for overnight (3 hr/ 77 km). Alt:1350m/ 4428ft.

Day3: Punakha to Trongsa. Morning visit Punakha Dzong and drive to Trongsa for overnight (5hr / 156km). Alt:2200m/ 7216ft.

Day4: Trongsa to Jakar. Morning visit the tower of Trongsa Museum, drive to to Jakar, Bumthang for overnight (3hr / 68km). Alt: 2665m / 7216ft.

Day5: Attend festival.

Day6: Jakar to Phubjikha. Travel on to Phobjikha valley, home of the rare
Black necked Cranes (5 hr / 130km). Overnight at Phobjikha. Alt: 2900m/ 9512ft.

Day7: Phubjikha to Thimphu. Drive to Thimphu via Wangdue valley for overnight at hotel (5hrs /130 km). Alt: 2320m/7069ft.

Day8: Thimphu to Paro. Drive to Paro (1 ½ hr/ 68km). Full day excursion to Tigers nest “Taksang”. Overnight at Paro. Alt: 2235m/7330ft.

Day9: Airport drop.
