Haa is the mythical valley of the guardian spirit Ap chundu responsible for the well-being of Haa and its people. It is situated in the north-west of the countrys border to Tibet, about 3000 meters above the sea level. Haa has also served as a trade route to Tibet during the ancient times. The region is blessed with alpine flowers, pristine lakes and snow-capped mountains. The people are devout and hardworking. Yak herders and farmers cultivate high altitude crops; wheat, potatoes, barley and millet. Their religious life revolves around the appeasement of Buddhist and shamanic (Bon) deities including Ap Chhundu their guardian spirit.
The highlights of this festival will be an opportunity to sample home cooked delicacies favored in the region including local brewed wine, Ara. Take part in games; archery and Khur dart and experience colorful mask dance and folk dances. Authentic, Handicrafts are on sale as well.
