Dharma Chakra: Wherever Lord Buddha had resided having turned the wheel of teaching, even at the places where the lord had slept, pay homage to all such places. “Shanti Deva”

This Dharma tour starts from Paro and moves on to the central part of Bhutan, Bumthang. Guru Rimpoche first visited this Dharma Chakra valley in early 8th century. Here you can offer prayers at oldest 7th century temple “Jampa Lakhang”. Also visit Kurjey lakhang, the temple with body imprint of Guru Rimpoche on the Rock. You will also be taken on a day excursion to Mebar Tsho “Burning Lake” and ending the pilgrimage with a walk to Taksang, “Tiger’s nest” at Paro.

Outline itinerary

Day1. Arrive to Paro and drive to Thimphu (1 ½ hrs). Alt: 2320m/7609ft.
Day2. Thimphu sightseeing. Includes hike to Tango monastery, nunnery to offer prayers.
Day3. Thimphu to Punakha (3 hrs). Includes “RibuSangchho” offering at Dochula pass. Alt: 1200m/3936ft.
Day4. Punakha to Trongsa (6 hrs). Includes “Prayer flag” hoisting at Pelala pass. Alt: 2300m/ 7550ft.
Day5. Trongsa to Bumathang (3 hrs). Includes trip to Tharpling Gonpa. Alt: 2665m/8741ft.
Day6. Bumthang sightseeing. Includes walking pilgrimage in Dharma valley; visit Jampa Lakhang, Kurjay Lakhang and Burning lake “maber tsheo”.
Day7. Bumthang to Phubjikha (6hrs). Includes visit to Gangtey Gonpa and sighting of Black neck Cranes if in winter. Alt: 2900m/9512ft.
Day8. Phubjikha to Thimphu (4hrs). Alt: 2320m/7609ft.
Day9. Thimphu to Paro and hike to Tiger’s nest “taksang”. Alt: 2235m/ 7330ft.
Day10. Airport drop.
